The Intent

The residence is ingeniously constructed as a dwelling of dual nature, or as a pair of autonomous dwellings linked by a shared studio passage. Upon entry, the design offers a discreet façade made from elongated ‘Geobricks’ secured from architectural preferred EH Smith, creating a gentle progression from the striking, exaggerated windows.

This frontage is tucked behind a garden, accompanied by driveways on either side that lead to separate entrances. The garage, located to the left, paves a path into the left corridor. The chambers that border the core studio — which could double as a recreational room — stretch to roughly 18 meters, facing each other across a unified courtyard garden. Polished concrete flooring with underfloor warming covers the ground floor while hidden track lighting brightens from the ceilings.

Kitchens from Pluck are featured on both sides, each fitted with concrete countertops and appliances by Fisher Paykel and Bora, plus living and dining zones. Sliding glass doors offer access to the back garden, and towering pivot doors swing open from the studio to the front.
